A destination worth the flight.
Gran Canaria's subtropical climate is the Canaries' most stable — locals call it the island of eternal spring for a reason. Eleven complete years (2015-2025) show January averaging 18C on the southern coast, July peaking at 24C with Atlantic trade winds keeping Maspalomas below the 30C mark that hits the mainland. Rainfall concentrates November through February and stays under 200 mm annually.
March, April, and October form the strongest value window. March brings 20C with almond blossoms in the central valleys near Tejeda, April sits at 21C with Playa del Ingles beach weather without the July crowd density, and October holds 24C ocean temperature — the year's warmest sea after Atlantic heating peaks in September. The north (Las Palmas) runs 3-4C cooler and cloudier than the south year-round.
July and August are the months to skip if you dislike crowds more than heat. Both hit 24-26C with Spanish and German school holidays pushing Maspalomas hotel occupancy above 95 percent and rental cars sold out three weeks ahead. Weather is still fine — but paying triple.
For 2026, book April by January for Playa de Amadores rentals below 100 euros per night. October remains the year's best combined weather-plus-value month with sea temperatures still at swimming levels.
Gran Canaria, four ways.
Every destination is really four destinations, worn by the seasons. Here — the four faces of the year in Gran Canaria.
When to book, when to skip.

No months are especially difficult here.
Flight prices, month by month.
Estimated round-trip fares from London, based on a 7-day stay. Rule-of-thumb pricing — the cheapest windows tend to be the shoulder months, so a shift of a fortnight can pay for a hotel.
★ June looks like the cheapest month for flights to Gran Canaria — often £108 less than the peak. Fares refresh daily; live prices below.
