Cappadocia weather

The best months to visit Cappadocia are April, May, June, September. Late April to mid-May when apricot blossoms flood Goreme valleys, balloon flights hit peak flyable days, and Rose Valley trails aren't dust yet.

August runs the highest averages in Cappadocia, with typical daytime highs of 31°C (88°F). July midday inside cave hotels stays 18C; the Ihlara Valley river walk is where locals cool off, and rooftop dinners wait until 8pm.

January brings the lowest averages, with daytime highs near 5°C (42°F). January snow on fairy chimneys is postcard perfect but balloons cancel half the mornings; Uchisar castle closes early and buses to Kayseri chain up.

May typically records the highest monthly rainfall — around 58mm on average. March rain turns tuff-rock trails to mud paste; the Zelve open-air museum stairs get slippery and Devrent Valley photo spots wash out.

Cappadocia, Turkey has warm summers, cold winters. Goreme is tourist central; sleep in Uchisar or Ortahisar for real village life. Testi kebab breaking is a ritual at Ziggy Cafe and Dibek in Goreme, not a gimmick. The green tour to Derinkuyu underground city is worth it only with a guide who knows the ventilation shafts.
