A destination worth the flight.
Muscat's desert-coastal climate is softer than Doha's but still severe in summer. Eleven complete years (2015-2025) show January averaging 22C with cool evenings along Mutrah Corniche, July peaking at 34C with high Gulf humidity that makes 40C feel worse in shade than Doha's drier air. Rainfall averages 100 mm — almost entirely in December and February bursts.
November through March is Muscat at its strongest. November brings 26C with Wadi Shab and Wadi Bani Khalid at full flow, December sits at 22C for Nizwa Friday market and Al Hajar mountain drives, and February delivers 22C with clear skies for Ras Al Jinz turtle beach evenings. This is also when Muscat Festival programs its cultural events across Al Amerat and Naseem parks.
June and July are the months to skip. Both average 34C with humidity peaking above 70 percent in coastal Muscat, and even the beaches at Qurum become unusable after 09:00. Wadi tours halt, and mountain drives risk flash-flood conditions from the monsoon fringe (khareef season).
For 2026, book late November for Wadi Shab access before the December rain window, and February for the coolest desert-camp conditions in the Wahiba Sands. Prices soften mid-January between the two peak stretches.

Every destination is really four destinations, worn by the seasons. Here — the four faces of the year in Muscat.

Flight prices, month by month.
Estimated round-trip fares from London, based on a 7-day stay. Rule-of-thumb pricing — the cheapest windows tend to be the shoulder months, so a shift of a fortnight can pay for a hotel.
★ June looks like the cheapest month for flights to Muscat — often £171 less than the peak. Fares refresh daily; live prices below.
