January brings the lowest averages, with daytime highs near 4°C (39°F). January -5C nights; Christkindlmarkt has ended but Alpine snow at Garmisch is prime, and Viktualienmarkt gluhwein stands run through February.

June typically records the highest monthly rainfall — around 122mm on average. Foehn wind days bring sudden Alpine downpours; May-June thunderstorms flood Isar river paths and cycling to work becomes a wet lottery.
